Title: Octodad

Developer: Young Horses

Release Date: TBA 2014

System: PlayStation 4

Octodad is one of those games that is so wacky and crazy, that you can’t help but put a smile on your face while you play it. The premise of Octodad is simple, you are an undercover octopus trying to live a normal life. The graphics aren’t amazing, the gameplay is difficult and the story is insane but Octodad does all of this on purpose, and it’s amazing. Octodad makes simple actions like mowing the lawn, putting on a hat and more activities awkward and difficult but at the same time you have to remain inconspicuous. This idea is simple but genius. While playing the demo I had an amazing time and this small indie title has quickly risen to be one of my most anticipated PS4 games.

Octodad at his wedding

During the demo that I played Octodad is getting ready for his wedding. At first I had to get used to the controls which were very awkward and hard to get used to but that’s the point. I never would have thought that picking up a key and opening a door would have been so hard, but so fun at the same time. My favorite part of the demo was when Octodad had to walk down the aisle to marry his wife. At this point there were people watching you so you couldn’t do anything octopus-like or else they would suspect that maybe you weren’t human. If walking down the aisle wasn’t hard enough for some reason it was littered with banana peels. Of course, I slipped and knocked down all sorts of things but luckily no one suspected a thing. Eventually I got a ring on my wife’s finger and we got happily married.

At this point in time I have nothing bad to say about Octodad. Of course the game play is awkward and the story is insane, but that is what makes it so amazing. Currently I have only played through a short 10 minute demo but I can’t wait to download and play the rest of this game. The title should be making it’s way to PS4 early 2014 but an official release date has not been announced. For more on Octodad keep coming back to the PS Game Blog.
