Yes, I do have my PS4 and yes, I do love it. Although I may have had a rocky start with my PS4, I was playing and enjoying my games in no time. The UI is a leap forward from the PS3, the graphics are beautiful and everything else from the controller to the camera are all amazing. The games I purchased were Killzone: Shadow Fall, Assassins Creed 4, Knack and some downloadable games such as Resogun and Sound Shapes. Overall the PS4 is quite an amazing machine that I am excited to have in my house for a long time.
The amazing PS4
Like I mentioned before, I did have some problems with my original PS4. The day the PS4 launched, I lined up at my local Gamestop, got the PS4, drove home, plugged it in, and it didn’t work. Apparently I was of the 0.4% of consumers who obtained a broken PS4 because mine wouldn’t start. What happened exactly was that the PS4 would start-up and I would see the PlayStation logo, then it would shut off, automatically turn on again and finally bring me to a screen that read “cannot access system storage please turn of you PlayStation 4 system and try again.” Of course this was very annoying, and because it was midnight, I had to wait until the following morning to get it replaced. After that, aside from some extremely long updates, it was smooth sailing.
The PlayStation family
The UI of the PS4 is also done amazingly well. What Sony calls the “PlayStation Dynamic Menu” is beautiful, fast and easy to use. Although you may not be able to customize it, the iconic blue ribbon is displayed. Basically there are two horizontal lines. The top line shows icons, such as friends, network, settings and more while the bottom line has many more pictures and shows the games and apps you have downloaded. Some of the download times for games and apps were a little long, but understandable, because there were over 1 million people trying to log on.

Other devices such as the new controller and the PlayStation Camera are awesome as well. For an in-depth look at the Dualshock 4 click here, but basically the Dualshock 4 is a huge step up from the Dualshock 3 and has many new features such as the touchpad and the light bar. The PlayStation Camera was cool too. It let me play the pre-downloaded game Playroom, use voice commands and let me video tape myself if I ever decide to do live streaming. The Playroom is an interesting game that lets you play with small robots, play air hockey and more. Future DLC will be coming, with developers such as Double Fine, already agreeing to sign on. The voice recordings, though limited, were interesting to use as well. Keep in mind, you can still use voice commands through a mic (including the one you get with the PS4), but the camera uses it as well. Some commands include starting games, going to the home screen and more. Sony has also promised that more voice commands will be added in the future through up dates. Overall the Dualshock 4 and the PlayStation Camera are pretty neat devices.
The PlayStation camera and Dualshock 4
Although some may say that the launch line line-up of the PS4 is weak, I think it is strong. There may not be any must have PS4 games but there are many good games that can justify your purchase. The games I bought were Killzone: Shadow Fall, Assassins Creed 4 and Knack. Also, with PlayStation Plus and free-to-play games I can download even more such as Resogun, War Frame and more. Looking into the future I am also excited for Infamous Second Son, The Order 1886 and Destiny. The amount of games can only get better and don’t expect any shortage of software.

The PS4 has had an amazing launch. Apart from a few broken consoles (including my own) the launch went amazingly well. I personally love my PS4 and cannot wait to keep playing more. The new User Interface is amazing, the Dualshock 4 is awesome, the PlayStation Camera is cool and the games are fun. The PlayStation 4 is definitely a capable and worthy console to replace my PS3.
