With the PS4 only days away Sony has revealed some interesting stats about the PS3.
As of November 2 the PS3 has sold over a staggering 80 million units. The System launched about 7 years ago so this is an important milestone for the PS3.
Alongside this news Sony has also revealed that about 4,332 games have been released for the console worldwide, excluding digital-only titles, also mentioning The Last of Us managed to sell 3.4 million copies in just three weeks. Sony also stated that over 300 new titles are due for release on the console over Christmas.
The Final piece of information that was released is that PSN apparently has more than 150 million registered accounts as of September 19, 2013. These users have access to more than 222,000 pieces of “digital content”, 72,000 of which are “game content” as of October 31.
With this news it’s exciting to think that the PS3 generation is ending and that the PS4 will soon be taking this place. For more on PlayStation check out the PlayStation game blog for more news, reviews and previews.
